Hand-Engraving
Hand engraving is an ancient form of cutting or carving precious metals. Our resident engravers are exceptional artists, who works using their expert eye, photographic memory and steady hands. The art of engraving can add additional meaning, depth of character and a personal touch to your treasures. Text (initials or facsimile script) and images (designs and coats of arms) can be added to various items. Silverware, rings, watches and other jewellery make the perfect engraving surfaces.

Frances Desoisa - Corporate Manager
Frances is no stranger to working within an organisation with Royal links – prior to joining Royal Warrant Holders Hamilton & Inches, she worked within the Royal Collection Trust of the Royal Household, based at the palace of Holyroodhouse.
“It was an exciting challenge,” she recalls. “Balancing the palace’s dual function as a tourist attraction, on the one hand, and home of the monarchy, on the other – no two days were ever the same!”
Now a key part of the team at Hamilton & Inches, Frances is just as at home in the workshops as the sales floor or head office.
