Stock Assistant

The Role

Since 1866, Hamilton & Inches has been Edinburgh premiere destination for fine jewellery, luxury watches and hand-crafted silver.  There has been significant investment in the business over recent years and to support with the next phase of growth, Hamilton & Inches are looking for a highly organised individual to join our team and assist with daily workshop and stock operations.

Key Accountabilities

  • Organise and carry out regular stock counts on our Stock and Workshop systems and across all business locations
  • Ensure accuracy of physical stock to the computer records across all locations
  • Responsible for ensuring all stock transfers are processed in line with policy and documented
  • Ensure stock delivery notes are processed correctly (counting and checking quantities)
  • Ensure regular and accurate stock checks and reconciliations are undertaken in conjunction with the Finance team
  • Action price increase/decreases, and discontinued lines as required
  • Process stock and workshop parcels as required- weighing, counting products and recording appropriately
  • Updating product properties on Stock and Workshop systems
  • Organise stock for photography and ensure all products are showing online correctly
  • Photograph all finished bespoke items for workshop records
  • Support Stock and Workshop teams with administration including but not exclusive to following up on orders with suppliers, filing, ensure back up is organised and labelled
  • Support the Stock and Workshop Manager’s to ensure stock and workshop policies and procedures are adhered
  • Conduct business in a discrete and professional manner, always maintaining staff and client confidentiality
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive accounting information is maintained at all times.
  • Take responsibility for a safe working environment ensuring all health and safety policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Represent the brand image of Hamilton and Inches ensuring positive impact and image on customers.

Key skills and experience:

  • Previous experience of working with stock
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to be self-motivated and disciplined
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and demanding environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business
  • Organised, work to tight deadlines and able to prioritise multiple simultaneous workloads
  • Reliable and hardworking
