Pre-Owned Watch Specialist

Based in the heart of the Scottish capital, we have maintained our jewellery & silver workshops since our inception and have held a Royal Warrant for more than 120 years. To this day, we proudly continue to curate a range of fine jewellery designed and made by our own artisan team and workshops.
Anchored by our heritage, we continue to invest in our future and are now looking for a Pre-Owned Watch Specialist to join the team. Alongside our Showroom Manager and skilled team, this role is pivotal in the development and profitable growth of our pre-owned business, building our in-house watch knowledge, and delivering exceptional customer service and experience both in our Showroom and Online.
The Role
As part of our sales team, the role holder will lead our pre-owned luxury watch businesses, be responsible for curating the collection, have exceptional product and market knowledge and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
Responsibilities include:
Buying
- Develop the pre-owned watch buying strategy to guide the buying process, decision making and compliance with commerciality at the forefront
- Lead buying activity with key members of the team, working closely with stock and sales teams to identify and meet client requirements.
- Source high-quality pre-owned luxury watches online with procurement strategy.
- Work with the Stock team to manage pre-owned luxury watch stock and pricing.
- Authenticate and evaluate stock to ensure they meet the Hamilton and Inches service standards.
Customer Network and Sales
- Develop client relationships and brand reputation as a pre-owned watch destination to support buying and selling activity.
- Generate and drive pre-owned sales, maintaining close client relationships and reputation as the market leader in this field.
- Manage customer engagement lifecycle from start to finish through understanding of a consultative retail environment and ensuring the delivery of exceptional service throughout.
- Work with the marketing team to manage communication strategy, proactively engaging with client network to support buying and selling activity.
- Work with the marketing team on events around pre-owned watches and provide support to build digital presence and across social channels.
- Support with business planning and delivery of the Rolex Certified Pre-owned.
Market Knowledge
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and developments in the luxury watch industry.
- Alongside other members of the Sales team, act as Hamilton and Inches watch ambassador, conveying your knowledge, passion and enthusiasm to the team and customers.
- Track and monitor trends, availability, demand, and prices of pre-owned watches across market.
- Attend industry events and conferences to network and stay current with advancements in the industry.
- Provide exceptional customer service and experience in our Edinburgh showroom.
- Be an authority on the pre-owned watch market and continue to develop in-depth, specialist brand and product knowledge, and deliver the training and development of internal team knowledge.
The Candidate
This is a key role within the Hamilton and Inches team and we are seeking someone who will make a long-term commitment to the development of our pre-owned luxury watch business and will act as a valued member of the wider team. Candidates must bring an established market and product knowledge, a passion for the sector and a desire to deliver the highest standards in customer experience.
Experience and knowledge required:
- Expert knowledge of luxury pre-owned watches, including authentication and evaluation
- Familiarity with luxury watch brands and their repair and maintenance requirements
- Experience in stock management, pricing, and marketing of pre-owned luxury watches
- Experience in staff training and knowledge development
- Experience in industry networking, client communication and relationship management
