Hamilton & Inches has been handcrafting bespoke engagement rings for generations. With our workshops and talented team all housed above our showrooms, our expert team of craftspeople are always delighted to help you create a truly unique treasure.
Each bespoke engagement ring is made by hand with the utmost care and precision, lovingly designed and hand-crafted by our in-house jewellers. To understand more about our bespoke process, read on for all the exciting details to get your handcrafted ring.
Commencing the bespoke process
The bespoke process begins by outlining the design concept which can be carried out in person, over the phone or via email. The consultation will help you talk through your ideas with our team of experts, so we can get started on bringing your vision to life.
Whether you have a clear, succinct idea for your design or a vague one, the consultation will be able to guide you through an array of ideas and designs that may be right for you. For inspiration browse our collection, journal and inspiration galleries to see some of the design possibilities. If you see a piece you like we can use this as a starting point for your design.
Perfecting the design
The next step is to perfect your ideas into a series of sketches for you to review before preparing full design drawings so you can see your piece coming to life. You will closely be involved in the process so we can confidently bring your vision to life, and at this stage, our team will produce a model if required.
Your design can be brought to life with our professional graphic design service. With prices starting from £100, following a consultation, you will be provided with a digital render of your piece for approval or further amends.
Sourcing the gemstones
Our expert team will work on sourcing the right gemstone for your design. If you're lucky enough to have obtained a beautiful rough stone that you wish to fashion into your bespoke design, we can have your gemstone cut accordingly. We will work with you to select the most suitable cut for your stone, the design of your chosen stone, and the setting that will bring out the best in your stone. We can transform a variety of gemstones including diamonds, and the big three: emeralds, sapphires and rubies.
Our suppliers only source precious gemstones from conflict-free zones; subject to thorough checks and third-party verification controls. The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme and relevant national legislation must be applied to every diamond purchased by, or on behalf of, Hamilton & Inches.
The cost of a bespoke design
We can ensure your design works within your desired budget, should you have one. If you don’t have one in mind, our team can guide you through designs and gemstones accordingly, advising you on the cost of various designs to help you make an informed decision.
The crafting process
Once the drawings have been reviewed and agreed our expert teams will begin to create your piece in our Edinburgh workshops. Each element is crafted by hand. The care and devotion of our craftspeople are truly visible in each and every piece our team creates. Once the ring has received both your and the H&I seal of approval, we can move on to getting your new ring into your hands.
Your bespoke handcrafted ring is complete
Once your bespoke handcrafted ring is complete and the balance has been paid, you are welcome to collect your ring in person from our store, or we can arrange safe and secure delivery to your chosen address.
We advise that you have your pieces professionally cleaned at least once a year to keep them sparkling. You are welcome to use our jewellery cleaning, checking and polishing service during which we will check your jewellery thoroughly for any signs of damage or heavy wear. Our expert team uses specialist equipment and materials when handling your jewellery, to ensure that any cleaning or polishing does not have a negative impact on the piece.
