Patek Philippe continue to celebrate a year of success with the launch of three new chronographs, each with spectacular complications. Ref. 5204, 5905 and 5930 illustrate the expert skill of the Geneva manufacture in creating watches that, whilst aesthetically beautiful, also offer complete technical prowess.
Split-Seconds Chronograph and Perpetual Calendar Ref. 5204R-011
The iconic model has been reinterpreted in rose gold and slate grey; a modern look for a timepiece that is considered a great classic. Since 2016, the model has proved to be hugely popular, available in two rose gold versions – one with a silvered opaline dial and chocolate brown alligator strap, the other with an opaline ebony black dial and rose gold droplet bracelet. The latest version, which boasts a slate grey dial, contrasting beautifully with rose gold applied hour markers and Dauphine-type hands.
The timepiece packs a punch, powered by the calibre CHR 29-535 PS Q. It boasts a split-seconds chronograph, instantaneous 30-minute counter, perpetual calendar, day month, leap year and day/night indication displayed in apertures. It also features date, indicated by hand with moon phases and small seconds. With all the functionality of the watch, the display is not considered busy; the clean design of the dial offers perfect and beautiful legibility.
Turn the timepiece around to view right into the beating heart of the watch through a transparent sapphire case back. The manually-wound movement is identified by its traditional architecture, featuring two column wheels and a horizontal clutch complete with seven patented innovations.
Presented on an exceptional slate grey strap crafted from calf leather featuring an embossed alligator patten, the watch is available with interchangeable sapphire crystal and solid case backs.
Self-winding Flyback Chronograph with Annual Calendar Ref. 5905/1A-001
First launched in 2015 as a platinum model and rose gold in 2019, the Ref. 5905/1a-001 is crafted from steel with sunburst green dial. A classic watch with sporty feel, this incredibly practical watch offers a self-winding flyback chronograph and patented Annual Calendar. The use of steel is a rare move for Patek Philippe.
The sunburst olive green dial is complimented with gold applied hour markers, with central chronograph hand, a large 60-minute sub dial at 6 o'clock and three day/date/month apertures arranged in an arc for easy legibility of the Annual Calendar indications.
In addition, the watch features a discreet day and night indicator at 6 o’clock that ensures accurate date setting. The watch is powered by the calibre CH-28-520 QA 24H, visible through a transparent sapphire case back. It includes a traditional column wheel for the transmission of chronograph commands but sees the toothed-wheel horizontal clutch replaced with a vertical disk-type clutch.
The Ref. 5905/1A-001 joins the Ref. 5905P-001 in platinum with a blue dial and Ref. 5905R-001 in rose gold with brown dial.
Self-Winding World Time Flyback Chronograph Ref. 5930P-001
Inspired by a one-of-a-kind model, the breath-taking Ref. 862 442 created in 1940, the Ref. 5930 combines two functions: a self-winding flyback chronograph and World Time. First launched in 2016 as a white gold version with blue dial and matching strap, 2021 sees the watch presented in platinum with green dial and strap.
Adding a new personality to a classic timepiece, the watch offers excellent legibility, with green hand-guilloched centre dial and city names in green around the periphery of the dial. The bold colour is also included at 6 o'clock on the snailed 30-minute counter. The applied hour-markers and the faceted Dauphine-type hands in white gold contract beautifully and offer excellent legibility.
Surrounding the dial is a completely hand-polished platinum case with diamond set at 6 o’clock. Within the timepiece, sits the calibre CH 28-520 HU, featuring a column wheel and the modern disk-type vertical clutch. It powers an exceptional World Time function, simultaneously showing the time in 24 time zones. Presented on a shiny bottle green alligator strap, it is a modern interpretation of a Patek Philippe classic.
