The watch world has been waiting with anticipation for Rolex to announce the launch of its 2020 collections and on 1st September the brand announced four exciting updates to its iconic Oyster Perpetual collections.
The highlight of the releases is undoubtedly the new Oyster Perpetual Submariner with a redesigned 41mm case and bracelet. This increase in size is tempered by the honing of some of the case elements including the lugs and the crown guards, which creates a stylish profile.
The new generation Submariner, alongside the Submariner Date, remains faithful to the history of the original diver’s watch, released in 1953. It has a unidirectional rotatable bezel with moulded 60-minute markers - a key function for a diver to safely and accurately monitor diving times. The new Submariner is released in Oystersteel with a black dial and matching Cerachrom bezel insert.
A yellow Rolesor version of the Submariner Date presents a royal blue dial with a rotatable bezel and a blue Cerachrom insert. Two versions of the Submariner Date, one in Oystersteel and the other in 18 ct white gold, bring distinctive colour combinations, with the dial and Cerachrom insert in different hues. The first watch blends a black dial with a green bezel, while the second proposes a black dial and a blue bezel.
Rolex has also unveiled a new model to enhance the range, the Oyster Perpetual 41. A novel configuration of this larger case size is the silver sunray finished dial with hands and hour markers in 18ct yellow gold. Alternatively, you could choose the bright black sunray dial with 18ct white gold markers.
The Oyster Perpetual 36 has been released with dynamic and vibrant new lacquer dials. The new colours include bright black, coral red, yellow, turquoise blue, green and candy pink. The new generation of the Oyster Perpetual has a Chromalight display, with luminescent hands and hour markers that emit a long-lasting blue glow in the dark. The models are available in 28mm, 31mm, 34mm, 36mm and 41mm.
Additionally, the Datejust 31 has four new white Rolesor versions (Oystersteel and 18ct white gold) with calibre 2236 and new, refined dials including a striking aubergine dial with diamond-set Roman VI and bezel.
Finally, the Sky-Dweller, in 18ct yellow gold with a bright black dial, has become the first watch in the brand’s Classic collection to include the high-performance Oysterflex bracelet. The bracelet, developed and patented by Rolex, provides durability and comfort. In addition, the Rolex Glidelock extension system allows fine adjustment of the bracelet length without the use of tools.
