Our relationship with The Balmoral, a Rocco Forte hotel in Edinburgh, spans over 100 years when, in 1902, we created their majestic clock at the top of the hotel. The special relationship continues and is celebrated to this day.
A Historic Partnership
At the turn of the 20th century, work on the iconic clock tower of The Balmoral Hotel began, an architectural feat of genius. Hamilton & Inches were proud to create the majestic clock at the top of The Balmoral, set 3 minutes fast to help thousands of passengers catch their trains each day, and adjusted at Hogmanay to stop the celebrations starting early.
Originally wound by hand each week, the clock is now mechanically operated to ensure travellers never miss a departing train.
The Balmoral Charm
To celebrate the relationship between Hamilton & Inches and The Balmoral Hotel, our workshop has created a limited edition Balmoral Clock charm which recreates the iconic clock and showcases the talents of our renowned silversmiths.
