Originating in the western highlands centuries ago, over time the quaich has been the favourite drinking cup throughout Scotland and to this day it is whisky that remains a quaich’s most welcome partner. The gaelic ‘cuach’ means a shallow cup and a quaich has two or three handles known as ‘lugs’. Be it the dramatic 12” lidded quaich or the 2” gilded quaichs, that also work as table-salt bowls, few gifts can be more quintessentially Scottish.
