An Experience, Like No Other
Founded by Robert Kirk Inches and his uncle James Hamilton, Hamilton & Inches opened its first store on Edinburgh’s Princes Street in May 1866. We have been based at 87 George Street since 1952 and continue to house some of the world’s finest watch and jewellery collections, as well as our exceptionally talented team of craftspeople. Accommodating all five storeys of the once Georgian townhouse, today we embody the very best Scotland has to offer. Along with the finest diamond jewellery and iconic watch brands, our showroom is made even more unique as our master craftspeople take residence above the showroom making our beautiful silverware and jewellery.
In 2021, we underwent a multi-million pound refurbishment of all five levels of our Grade A listed building. From our showroom and service departments to the workshops in the storeys above, the building has been protected for the next 155 years, allowing our team to continue to create exceptional hand-crafted items for decades to come. Discover Hamilton & Inches; an experience like no other.

A Space, Like No Other
At the heart of the Grade A listed building is our historic showroom, featuring restored breccia violetta marble pillars which date back to 1835. These elements, alongside our range of exceptional jewellery and watches, are lit beautifully via chandelier lighting, creating a generous glow that spills out onto George Street.

Above our newly installed diamond bar hangs an exquisite hand-crafted silver Ginkgo leaf installation, created by our craftspeople with input of each member of staff. It has been designed to marry our past to our future and celebrate the proud heritage of Hamilton & Inches.

Our newly renovated Patek Philippe area offers a space to learn more about the one-of-a-kind collection of timepieces and explore them at your leisure.
Since its founding in 1839, Patek Philippe has been at the forefront of Swiss watchmaking. As the last family-owned independent watch manufacturer in Geneva, it enjoys total creative freedom to entirely design, produce and assemble what experts agree to be the finest timepieces in the world.

A Story, Like No Other
Once a private residence, Hamilton & Inches’ Edinburgh showroom was developed into a retail space by renowned architect David Bryce in 1835, creating the pillared showroom that remains today. Bryce retained many of the original features, including our treasured Adam fireplace, making it an important testament to 19th century Scotland and the perfect place to discover our collections. Our latest renovation project has lovingly and carefully restored these precious items to their former glory.
