Silver Over the Years
For centuries, silver has held a value above material and economic consideration. In Roman and Greek mythology, the first age was called Golden, the second Silver. Apollo, the god of truth and light, carried a silver bow. His twin sister Artemis lost a hand in battle and was given a silver replacement by the god of healing. In cultures the world over, gifts of silver are given as a symbol of trust, love and wisdom.
With age, silver absorbs the nature of its environment, taking on a natural patina and character all of its own; the little ‘dings’ becoming a testament to life well-lived. At Hamilton & Inches our designs draw inspiration from any number of sources, from the classical architecture of Edinburgh’s New Town to our more informal approach to living in the 21st Century. Many of the fruits of our labours are on display in our showroom.
