We are delighted to be part of a group of Scottish retailers who have helped raise £16.4 million for good causes in 2020. The beneficiaries include emergency food provisions, sustainable contributors, NHS charities and many more.
Despite the challenges 2020 brought, giving back is as important to us as ever and throughout the year, we remotely and collectively worked to raise money for the NSPCC, The Trussell Trust, Trees for Life and more. The collaborative efforts of the team saw a range of fundraising activities including three staff members running 154km in a month and the completion of a gruelling 17-hour bike ride, undertaken by team members including silversmith David Ramsay.
John Brodie MBE, Chairman of the Scottish Retail Consortium, said:
“Retailers did not forget their obligation to charities and the community despite the unprecedented challenge of responding to the COVID crisis. Despite unforeseen restrictions which shut down traditional fundraising routes retailers have stepped up with donations to ensure charities don’t miss out. It’s been a difficult time for everyone, but Scotland’s retailers can take pride in supporting local good causes and putting the industry at the heart of the community.”
With a membership that includes The House of Bruar, Marks and Spencer, John Lewis, Harvey Nichols and more, the Consortium has raised £75.6 million since 2016, and this year we are more committed than ever to help raise vital money for those in need.
