Her Majesty joined our Chief Executive Stephen Paterson, and The Rt. Hon. Donald Wilson, Lord Lieutenant and Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh, for a silver plaque unveiling to mark the 150th anniversary of Hamilton & Inches.
Both The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh also met the Hamilton & Inches team, including Apprentice Silversmith Paul Kirkos, who is completing his Hamilton & Inches Academy apprenticeship with support from The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust.
To mark the prestigious occasion, Hamilton & Inches presented the Royal party with special gifts. Their expert production was led by our Master Chaser and Silversmith, Panos Kirkos, who is also the Father of Apprentice Silversmith Paul.
Hand-crafted for Her Majesty in the year of her 90th Birthday, the ‘Enchanted Pool Bowl’ represents a tranquil pool on the River Tay, with Scottish river pearls and an inscription reading: “Thank you for 90 Enchanting Years.”
In a similar style, the ‘Bulrush Kilt Pin’ was hand-crafted as a gift for His Royal Highness on the occasion of his visit to the company. It reflects the aquatic movement of the River Tay, the surrounding plant life, and is set with a Scottish river pearl. We also presented The Queen with a hand-crafted sterling silver Post-It Note holder.
